$242 Saves A Life

November 18, 2025

Dear UFF Friends and Supporters,

Our end-of-year review culminated two weeks ago in a meeting with all the training and education directors from the Ministry of Defense, independent services, operational commands and institutes: 23 senior officers giving feedback and submitting requests for 2026.

WHAT WE LEARNED

• In 2025, instructors sponsored by our Train & Assist Educational Program have so far taught 41 classes in Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, and Odesa engaging 1577 students from units across the country.

• Independent analyses by Ukrainian officers of units which have undergone this education have experienced a reduction in casualties of 30% by enabling quicker, more effective and better coordinated decision-making across organizational structures.

• These classes have been for battalion, brigade and recently corps headquarters on leadership and decision-making.  Based on the average size of units and their combined times spent at the front, we conservatively estimate organizations totaling 21,000+  (in reality, it is in the hundreds of thousands, but some larger units have not yet had much time at the front or fully adapted what they have learned).  30% would equate to 6,300 soldiers whose lives have been saved.  Based on our expenses to develop this education, every $242 invested is saving a life.

Change of Mindset. We view our education efforts as changing a mindset. Ukraine’s national security leadership retains a lot of Soviet doctrine and stove-piped thinking.   Now educators work with senior leaders specifically to change that.

• Result. What was supposed to be a small meeting with a few people turned into a mass request for support in 2026 backed by numerous letters and plaques including from the Chief of General Staff:

“The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine highly values your contribution to the preparation of our personnel and to the enhancement of their professional expertise.  Your work is a significant force in advancing efforts to repel the armed aggression by the russian federation and to safeguard the independence of our nation”

Lieutenant General Andrii Hnatov

Chief of The General Staff of The Armed Forces of Ukraine

Over the past three years, we have earned the support and confidence of the Ministry of Defense. Over 50 retired American officers are ready to keep coming to support Ukraine.

We hope to sponsor over 80 2-3 week courses in 2026 and transform Ukraine’s operational leadership to western standards. We have the instructors ready. We just need the funding.

Please help us conduct this life-saving education

Thank you for standing with Ukraine!
